New Blog Format and That.
Hey kids.
I’ve decided I don’t blog enough. A blog is supposed to be a personal thing, but I don’t want to post a diary of my life here, so I’ve decided I am going to post a weekly blog with several sections.
It fills my self indulgent blog needs, since all of the items are things that have interested me, yet the items themselves aren’t (always) to do with me. Hooray!
I’ve come up with a rough list of topics to cover each week, so without further adieu, here goes:
Website of the week:

http://www.notesleftbehind.com
This website is very touching.
This is one of hundreds of notes a little girl called Elena Desserich hid around her parents house after she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
She was given 135 days to live, but managed 255 before she died.
Her parents found the notes over the following weeks and published them in a book to fund a non profit organization called “The Cure Starts Now”.
If you have the money please buy the book, its for a very worthy cause and is heartbreaking but lovely.
Song of the week
This week I have been mostly listening to “Fun.”.
Nothing is new there, I was a huge fan of Nate’s last band “The Format”, and am growing to love “Fun.” even more.
I was lucky enough to see them in London in March at a tiny venue, and since then their song “Take your time (Coming home)” has been stuck in my head. Its incredible, I would kill to be able to write a song like this.

Youtube video of the week

Chuck’s New Tux by Harry Partridge. Watch it until the end, It had me in hysterics.
News story of the week

http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=602255&publicationSubCategoryId=68
This was brought to my attention by our very own Mark “Don’t Hurt Me” Reynolds.
I remember when I was a kid I was always told not to eat the apple core cause and apple tree would grow inside me.
I considered myself to be a smart kid so knew my stomach acid would destroy the seed thus it wouldn’t kill me.
Later I learned that apple seeds contain arsenic so probably shouldn’t be eaten, but more scary was learning today that Ron Sveden found out he had a pea plant growing in his LUNG.
That shit is scary.
He was relieved because doctors assumed it was terminal cancer. It has since been removed and Ron is doing fine, but I will never look at a pea the same again.
Movie of the Week

Ok, I’m cheating here a bit.
I haven’t seen the movie, or read the comic, but I’ve been following it since I saw that “Spaced” director Edgar Wright would be directing it.
I really had no idea what to expect, but I have to say the trailer has got me interested. It looks good!
TV Show of the Week
There is a bit of a tie here. I just got a new PS3, which had the BBC Iplayer built in to it. After a bit of perusing I came across two shows that I LOVE.
The first:

Cowards. A BBC4 sketch show. There is only one episode on Iplayer, and apparently 3 episodes made in total which is a shame. Also, the DVD is hard to come by, another shame. Anyway, you can see a sketch from it here.
The Second:

Mongrels. A puppet based BBC3 comedy show. It really is brilliant. The first episode was a bit slow, but its going from strength to strength from the second episode onwards. You can see the first part of the second episode here.
Game of the Week

As I said, I just got a new Playstation 3 so have been sampling the delights of games I have missed since I got rid of the old one.
Infamous is one of them.
I paid for the Playstation plus service which gave me an hour long trial of the game and I am now fighting the desire to spend £16.99 on the full game download. Its brilliant. Get the demo if you have a PS3!
Thing I Learned of the Week

Take a bag of crisps. Look at the best before date. I bet its a Saturday. Thanks to Dave Sinclair for that one. Weird.
